    Default a light snow

The photo was taken on January 1, 2008. I've been looking askance at the way I processed some of my images years ago and decided to redo them. This was the first makeover. The previous version suffered from extreme Fractalius syndrome.

Nikon D2X, ISO 100, f/14, 1/20 second, +1 exposure compensation, zoom lens at 58mm (probably a DX lens)

    processing highlights
    • blue layer -- masked to color a whitish sky
    • Topaz Simplify -- saved watercolor preset, 88% opacity
    • Alien Skin Snap Art -- saved watercolor wash preset, Hard Light blend mode, 37%
    • three greenish Belle Fleur textures -- masked, various blend modes and opacities
    • Photo Filter adjustment layer -- Warming 85, masked off snow
    • Photo Filter adjustment layer -- Cooling 80, 33%, masked (inverse of previous one)
    • three Fractalius layers -- saved black & white presets, two Multiply, one Divide, various opacities, all masked
    • Snap Art -- saved Line Art preset, green & white, Multiply, 82%
    • Simplify -- saved black & white edges preset, Multiply, 60%
    • Red Giant Knoll Light Factory -- embellished an already existing light flare with the same location and orientation
    • Nik Silver Efex -- used a light blue toner and brought back some yellow/orange from the light flare with a control point
    • uniform gradient vignette
    • Nik Color Efex -- Glamour Glow, 60%, masked
    • Knoll -- reapplication with same or similar settings, 78%
    • Knoll -- different settings on a 50% gray layer, enlarged, Linear Light, 16%
    • Knoll -- copy of previous layer, rotated, Linear Light, 21%
    • used a very large (larger than the frame) soft yellow brush to make one daub centered over the light flare and reduced the opacity to nearly nothing

Fascinating with all the lines, those perfectly structured from the sun and all the randomly arranged branches from the trees! It works for me as the sun lines appear to pull together all the tree branches. A very creative re-do! I do feel I need sunglasses for that bright sunspot !

Dennis, this is really beautiful. It has a very Oriental feel to it which I love.

I like the depth and the feeling of looking up to the sky. The sunburst is a nice touch.
