    Default Black on White

Well folks not really black on white , was just the only idea i had as being a title for this image .
Image of this Antarctic Fur Seal taken on South Georgia Island in Right Whale Bay during one of our landings .
This seal got chased by another one from the beach and was now running up and down along the surf and the other one was moving behind me , following this guy and did not want him back on the beach . My guess was, because they have been younger than a real adult ,it was more of a game than a fight but i could have been well wrong .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L
    Tripod

    F 5,6 ; ISO 8000 ; 1/3200 sec ........... well settings could have been better . man exposure

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC , no crop and i would have liked a bit more room all around , as this was happening quite fast no time to move because i was surrounded by animals , birds and humans .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - nice action with the splash/surf really adding to it. Good sharpness and detail. I agree with you that a little more room especially left and below would be preferable but not a deal breaker.

Nice angle and timing here Andreas - IQ looks really good for ISO-8000 with a mk4
I like the monochromatic look here.

Thanks for your feedback Morkel , well even the MK IV can be great if treated carefully at high ISO , but it does not work always .

    Hello Andreas,

Almost B/W for me, and it really works - I like the dramatic feel here with only a splash of colour. BG is stunning, so is detail and sharpness - superb is this seal in action ,as captured!

Andreas, just one small thing: I feel the need to "straighten" this, because of the horizon line - kind of slanted...Should you rotate, you would lose from the bottom of the image...What is your take on this?

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Gabriela thank you for your comment , i do not see it as you see it , simple as this .
Image was taken while the lens was on a leveled base , so i ma fine with the natural slope in the BG . And yes you are right it is too tight for this kind of maneuver .

Thanks again , have a great weekend and say hi to my brother with n. a.

Hi Andreas, agree with your own critique, a hint more space all round wouldn't hurt things, it's just a wee bit tight, oh for the 200-400 . Like the splash of warmth in the markings of the seal, does break up the monochromatic overall look & feel.

Thanks Steve and Anette for your reply , yes as i already said some more room would have been better , 200-400 or even the 1Dx alone would have helped .But ........ it was 2012 and there was no 200-400 or the 1Dx for the poor little german with only 1 pair of grey socks .

    Cheers Andreas

ISO 8000 !!! I will need to learn from you to get the best out from the MK IV, a bit more space on the RHS would have been great but loved the angle and sharpness .
