I could call it field craft as some do but I don't really think so. I was sat in my car trying to photograph a rabbit when this bird suddenly turned up at the side of the car and started to try to dust bathe in mainly pebbles ! Seemed completely oblivious to me or the vehicle ! I thought it quite nice the way the light seemed to pick ot the bird from what would I think normally be called a "messy" background.

Great natural looking image John, and isn't it good when something like this comes along. I like the pose, the POV and the HA. All good and not a bad BG either Good stuff

Really great lighting, love the contrast on the bird to the darker BG. Colors are rich.

John, Backdrop is very natural and quite artistic and gave superb 3D effect in the frame. Love it.
Great contrasting colors on partridge, nice ruffled feathers with great details.

    Satish.

I like the inclusion of habitat and a handsome bird, strong light made it tough for you, it's a bit contrasty. I wish his head was turned towards us. the areas around the log look unnatural, perhaps due to some cloning or other processing.

    Hi Arash
More or less as it came out of the "French Partridge" folder, and in fact the only one in this situation.. I seem to recall the dark areas being very noisy so it could be excessive neat image. It certainly doesn't like low pixel size images. It may have been a bright lit sunny area toned down . No cloning as I don't think there was any need. I must admit it looks a bit funny.

Maybe my eyes are deceiving me but I see weird artifacts around the log where things blend and suddenly disappear. They look like clone artifacts...

I use neat image too, it shouldn't cause something like this. Maybe your masking was bad ?

John, it is evident that the BG was manipulated here. The OOF grass suddenly turn into a sharp log and leaves which are then cut, looks like it has been pasted from somewhere else...There is no problem with cloning but you have to clean it up. it looks too messy here, not sure why you deny it...
