I bought these small Mums for the flower photography on-line course I'm taking with Kathleen Clemons.

Nicely done. The background works very nicely with the subject in terms of color and the vignette. I like the petals fading into the background. Did you apply one or both textures over the flower and mask part of it away?

    Thanks, Dennis.

I did not mask away flower areas, though I often do.

Here are the textures I used. It turns out I used 3, one of which I don't know the origin.
1st Texture: Blend Mode: Darker Color at 46% opacity (which I applied second)
2nd Texture: Blend Mode: Multiply at 87% opacity (which I applied first)
3rd Texture: Blend Mode: Multiply at 32% opacity (which I applied last)

I don't have a formula for using textures. It is largely a matter of trial and error. The Blend modes I use most are Multiply and Soft light.

Thanks, Anita. I know what you mean about trial and error. It was good of you to show the textures in your response. I like the combined effect you got, and I think the third one pulled everything together very nicely with the pink in the interior and the yellow on the edges -- opposite to what was in the flower.

Lovely image Anita! The textures are very nice and perfect for the image.

Wonderful image and treatment, Anita. Methinks YOU could be teaching a course on flower photography. :-)

Really pretty Anita, I love how your flowers melt into the background in subtle ways. Nice warm and dreamy colors to warm up the cold winter.

Thank you, Steve. The photo course I'm taking is challenging me to try some new approaches. I'm working hard at it and enjoying it.

Very nice Anita, I hope you are challenging yourself, she is one of my favourite flower photographers. The textures work well here and I like the placement to the left.

Thanks, Jackie and Cheryl. Yes, I'm being challenged by the course, more than I expected. :-)
