    Dan:

I like the comp, low shooting angle, colors.

I often like the spot light effect, but wish there was just a bit more light on the bird here. Certainly doesn't have to be the entire bird, but a bit more would be nice, for my taste.

Has the D610 taken over for the D800?

    Cheers

Stunning pose, FG/BG colors, low POV. I also feel the whites might be a little brighter, but I would love to have this in my files. Or just about any Bufflehead, for that matter. Nicely done.

I like the low angle on this image, the background is superb as well. The need for a bit more light is noted already. I also see a bit of noise on the bird's dark areas and on the water around the bird, in my monitor at work the noise between the blue portion of the water and the green portion is noticeable.

Great low angle and luscious greens! I like the head turn and waves in the water. I could see the whites go a tad brighter but I am enjoying the overall mood as is. The single drop on top of the head is a neat bonus!

Great POV Dan for a great looking image of the duck. BG and FG colours blend nice with the colours on the bird. Lovely. TFS

    Randy,
    thanks for the comment.
Maybe a bit lighter, but I make them dark on purpose, just my own choice.
The D610 is not replacing the D800, I have only shot with it a couple of times,
    but do like it.
It's low light capability is as good or better than the D800, probably not as much range though.
I shoot birds at iso1000 as a minimum for the NW low light. The D610 is great for that. I really get no noise
    at all at that iso.
This is a 50% crop because I was shooting with such a short lens, and the IQ holds up pretty well
    for a 24mp camera.
It is going to make a really good backup/second camera.

I like the low angle, wish the water was calmer. the whites look grey on my screen and some noise (albeir small has crept in the dark areas)
