Hi all , after i almost raced past this lioness lying on the side of the road in KTP not far away from Polentswa camp , i quickly stopped and waited what she will do . At first she did nothing , then i recognized a WB herd moving our direction and the lioness started her stalking tryout . Well she did not manage to get close enough and the WB recognized her early enough , it was a unsuccessful attempt . After moving down to the road for better hiding from them , she tried a second time but gave up very quickly . So finally she turned around and walked along the road , i reversed for a couple of hundred meters hoping she might come my way . I saw then she was having problems with one leg , and finally settled down in the road and was just relaxing , think waiting for the night to go on with hunting .

Great eye contact on the shot here Andreas, rally makes the image for me. Slightly unusual crop with one paw in and one out, but I've considered the options and think this is the best one.

Usual sharp fine details, and the low view is superb

Thanks Mike , i had to choose this crop because i cut off the legs . In other images she was not having that look in her face or something else was not that nice like the tyre tracks , what i do not like .
Hope this helps for choosing this crop .

    Cheers Andreas

I like this crop. My eyes lock onto her eyes, and then I start to look around the image at her paw and the surrounding road. Works nicely, and I appreciate the story line. Hopefully her leg is ok, and it's only a temporary issue. These are amazing animals.

Hi Andreas - There's a serenity to this image with the lioness seemingly very relaxed but checking you out. Based on your description of the ff image this crop sounds like the best alternative. The face seems a little softer than your usual posts, perhaps a little more sharpening?

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Andreas, love the lazy pose and eye contact, and I quite like your comp here. Your RP shows the detail very well on her face. Well done.

Gotta love the type of lion sightings you can have in KTP, often all on your own!
I agree with the softness in OP, rectified in the repost.
Not too sure about the comp/framing and might have cropped tighter for a facial view if it was mine, Andreas.

Thanks Morkel for your feedback , i wanted to avoid to go in tighter cause of IQ loss . Sadly i had only 2 encounters on my own with the lions , both close to Polentswa and both on the road .

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, nice, clean & simple allows the contact with the viewer. The BKG works and gives nice separation.
