Sort of inspired by Ian Wilson's tern photo.
I try to get this shot every time I see Buffleheads, and almost always get nothing.
I got this one the other day, the best I have ever done with this kind of photo after years of trying.
Extremely difficult to get, harder than Flight photos.......
A bufflehead diving for food, It happens really fast.....

Hi Dan - Congrats on getting an image that has been a goal. Interesting behavioral image and I like the clarity of the splash. I think the one in the bg sort of adds to the image with a feeling of a spectator looking at the behavior. Overall the image is a bit dark and there's a blue cast to it.

They definitely are lightning fast divers, so you did well by freezing the action. I like the female in the BG. I agree with Rachel that you're underexposed and have a blue cast to the image.

Hi Dan, well timed for the dive, and that splash is really clear. I was going to ask to take some off the bottom, but your comp is fine, as you have left space for the virtual body. Exposure and cast mentioned.
