    Default Wilson's Snipe

    Attached Images Attached Images

    EOS-1D Mk III, 500mm f/4, 1/1000, f/5, ISO 400
    Manual exposure using incident meter
Manual Flash set for -2 Fill Flash with Better Beamer
    About 90% of Full Frame

Photographed last week in Burns, Oregon in overcast light from car using BLUBB.

Spent last week in the Burns / Malheur NWR area in southeast Oregon.
Lots of birds but the Snipe presented the most photo ops.
All except this one were "Snipe on a post" situations with varying backgrounds.
Got 9 excellent opportunities over 7 days of photographing.

Looking forward to your comments and critiques !

    Great composition Mike,
I like the balance. Would have liked to have seen just a tad more of head rotation on your subject...congrats...:D

    Mike
I really like this one for something different. I like this crop and I think that a vertical would work as well. The head turn looks good to me. The wheel makes such an interesting "perch". Well done.

I like it a lot Mike !! From a tech point its just perfect I like the use of flash and your base exposure.

The composition is fine with me. I do like how you framed the wheel and placed the bird. Different and looks great !!!

this is your best snipe Mike. I like it mostly because of the wagon wheel perch and white high key background. Frame it!
