    Default Descending investigation

A leopardess descends a sausage tree to investigate an impala and her newborn that were wandering into her territory.
I was fortunate she granted me this open shot, considering the leafy environment.

    Sth Luangwa Nat Park- Zambia.

D4 80-400 AF-S 1/2500s f/6.3 ISO800@ 150mm. 10% crop, H/H from front pax seat, luminosity mask, levels, curves, USM in ACR PS CC.

    C & C most welcome

I'm off to Ndutu/Serengeti for 18 nights on Wednesday, and looking forward to

*4 known cheetah moms with young cubs
    *wild dogs using the area
    *big lion pride at Ndutu
*Gnu calving already (big bonus considering my timing)
*and far less people than normal (thanks Ebola!)

    See you then!

Hi Marc , i can clearly see this a Nikon frame ............ well i could not resist !!!! Be patient with me .

To be honest i really like the descending Leopard nicely open on a not too busy tree and i think i can almost see the Impala on the LHS looking in the eyes , the concentrated look of the cat . Good overall tonality . If you have some more room on RHS would be great , for the tail , if not no big deal .
As colors are subjective , i think the image is just too yellow dominated for my taste , and i would add some local contrast to the subject for a bit more punch .But this is just only a Canonians POV .

Have fun on your upcoming trip , TFS Andreas

Hi Marc - Great look at the leopard with no annoying leaves in front and good job keeping the tail in the frame. I like the tree branch leading us into the frame too. I have to agree with Andreas, the yellows are very strong throughout. If it were mine I would reduce the yellows about 20-30 points.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Thanks Rachel

The RAW WB was showing a very warm image, I reduced the K temp down a far way as evidenced by the very blue sky BG, the yellows could perhaps be reduced slightly but not by much,
please remember we are at the end of a long hot dry season with temps over 100F every day and the colours (to my mind) reflect that.

RP here with the overall WB K temp reduced, it does look a little better now I feel.

I liked the OP and the repost is a improvement. I love the intense look in her eye...you can feel she has seen something that peeks her interest. Nice tones and detail. Shadows of the tree very well handled and the busy BG doesn't detract as their seems to be enough DOF so it adds to the scene rather than being too blurred that it detracts. Very nice Marc.
