    Enrique,
The whites are blown and it is noisy.
Not up to your usual high standard.
They are a tough subject unless you photograph them often.
You might take the RAW back and try this one again.

I agree with Dan regarding the blown whites, but they should be able to fix with a better result in ps. You captured a wonderful light and color of the water. Nice low angle and focus on the birds head as well.

Nice low angle but I agree it was cooked too much and recovery has made it very unnatural.

    Thank you for your comments...

I can't see where whites are blown... this is the original converted with only default LR settings... I scanned the whites for blowout areas and did not find any.

as for the "unnatural" look... it is part of what I liked about this image... ;)

Nice colors in the duck and water, Enrique. My preference is the OP.

I reprocessed another frame of that same sequence, and now I agree with Arash that I went wrong trying to tame the whites - which are not blown-out.. ;)
here is that image ... same techs... better?

Repost looks much better Enrique, but I think you can still do better. Could you send me the RAW file? Check for a PM from me.

Beautiful shot! Lovely colors. You did a great job with recovering the whites in the last post (#7). I like the pose in the original post and the processing in the last one.

Enrique was kind enough to send me several RAW files from this sequence. There are no blown whites in the original captures. Here's my processed version. I've been playing around with Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks for Photoshop, and they do a stellar job of creating incredibly detailed masks; those masks can be used with adjustment layers to enhance your original capture.

Thanks for doing the work and posting here Doug.

I also have been playing with luminosity masks and Tony Kuyper's actions for about a year now.

I processed that same image in LR and applied probably similar mask as you did, but I was perhaps a little more aggressive - now that I am beginning to figure out how to deal with the "creaming" effects of the "multiply" blending mode on "light-lights"
