Everything looks good Rachel. A lower angle would be better but you obviously know that and were unable to get there. How does the new lens compare to the old one. Keep up the good shots

Thanks all. Ivan - obviously one of the biggest differences is the twist zoom rather than the push-pull. I had a very sharp copy of the old lens and haven't shot enough to know if there is an appreciable difference in sharpness with the newer one. The other major difference is the IS, the new version has much better IS. It seems to acquire focus quicker too but honestly, one outing is not enough to really judge it.
Thanks again,
Rachel

Hi Rachel, big congrats on your new toys, and I know you were dying to try them out. Excellent detail on the finer plumage, sharp, and you have exposed the greens on the head nicely. Good DOF on the Mallard too.
Im sure you will turn out plenty of keepers with this combo, not that you werent already with your ' old toys'. Have fun, and looking forward to many more.

I wonder if anyone compare the canon 300mm f2.8 mark I vs canon 100-400 Mark II ?
-
Esp 300 mm with x1.4tc , AF speed and sharpness ? Some says the speed of new 100-400 mark II is good . Anyone compare them ?
-
Cheers Rachel, will watch with interest, I am sure the IS will make a big difference esp with low light stuff and slow shutter speeds

Glad you're enjoying the new gear! The 7D2 works really well with the 100-400 II, and your sharpness here is proof positive.
