Default A "TAIL" to be told...

This image certainly won't float everyone's boat.

I do like to use any opportunity to experiment with showing something other than the "classic facial portrait" we all strive for so often. Of course it's easier to stick to that resolve if the male leopard you are photographing refuses to turn around or look your way! From the archives - Sabi Sands circa 2010.

    Hello Morkel!

Some de-tail you got here! I really appreciate your sense of humour and especially on a Sunday night and I admit this does "float my boat"!

I must add the colours are spot-on and I like the DOF. My eye was drawn to those beautiful fading rosettes on the back of the leopard soon after studying the tip of the tail in its fine detail - it does tell the story

Thank you Morkel, a fine image to end the evening for me, really enjoyed viewing

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

That curl of the tail is almost as expressive as a face and is certainly worthy of an image! Independent of the body the tail seems a bit snake like and I wonder if that is useful to keep things from approaching from the backside? And is that bright white underside that is now so visible also a warning? I like the inclusion of the blades of green grass as they add a good contrasting color to the various browns and add interesting lines across the leopard spots.

Hi Morkel - I think we've all experimented with tail shots as we sit there and wait for some action or for the animal to turn around. The curl of the tail and the nice light make this one particularly effective. Nicely seen and captured.

Perfectly acceptable here Morkel, sometimes we have to adapt to what we're presented with, and well seen my friend.
Comp, colours & detail all first rate.

Morkel i am really surprised what people come up with , i never had the idea of shooting just a tail with a bit of body from behind . Not mine but i like the tone and deep color combo ....... well done . Nice detail in the tail tip and i am happy to not find any halo around edges ......... .

Great color and detail. I would maybe have tried more tail and less behind. Also if there was less vegetation near the rump maybe I would like it more. Not my cup of tea but you are very creative and that is one of your strengths.

I certainly float your boat in this sort of images Morkel. I do have that kind as well, just never posted one here.

Love the overall and of course the detail as well in the image. So glad not to be alone on that boat

    Have a nice eve

    Ciao Anette
