    Default Goldfinch in the tails

Crappy weather today so shooting a simple setup here at the house. Was thinking of cloning out the highlights in the BG but the more I looked at it the more it grew on me. Canon 5DIII-500f4, ISO 1600, F5.0 @ 400sec. Raw converted in DPP finished in PS. Thanks for looking.

i like it and the highlights look fine.
I would get rid of the low stem in the middle and I kind of wish the other was a bit higher in the frame.
The bird looks a tad soft but sort of works with the dreamy image.
    Nice work.....

Lovely shot Joe. The BG highlights don't bother me at all. If it were mine I might tighten the crop just a bit to make the bird more prominent. I don't think you need that much cattail. Very nice, though.

Thanks guys! I was going for more of a dreamy environmental shot instead of the typical lollypop setup of a single bird on a single tail hence the loose frame and leaving parts of the other tails for your mind to fill in. Just trying to do something different thanks for the feedback!

I like it, the light color of the bird works well with the dark BG. I agree cloning the stick that runs behind the bird would improve the image.

I'm going to throw in my vote for removing the stick behind the bird. The background is superb and enhances the bird. A little more sharpness for my taste, but then again it could be my amazingly calibrated monitors

Hi Joe, I like subjects placed high on perches, and this works for me. Lovely pose and HA from the Goldfinch, and he pops nicely from the darker BG. The lighter areas of the BG are fine, but would remove the two cattails on the left if its in your ethics.

The subject really stands against that dark background! Love the pose, HA, perch and vertical composition. TFS
