Hi Sanjeev - You captured a very nice moment here and its great that not only is the cub facing you but Marula lifted her head too. I'm a little surprised at the settings given it was late evening but you could have upped the ISO and gone for a bit more dof. As is, I would apply a lumo mask at about 40% to tame the highlights and give the image a bit more depth.

    Rachel

Hi Sanjeev, I assume the 500 was on the 5D? If so I would have swopped things out & bolted the 1.4 on to gain that ISO & DoF. Would agree on the luminosity adjustment, but would not just blanket the whole image, be selective with a mask I feel. I might also go for a 16 x 10 and loose a bit more off the top. I do like the composition and the curvature of mum, her look back as the cub nurses.

The look back pose from mum and seeing the cubs face suckling are two very pleasing elements to this image Sanjeev, just a wonderful moment to witness less photograph.

Good suggestions from Steve & Rachel and an easy fix.

Colours look good and her look back is working well to hold the viewers attention. I seem to see a slight head blur due to the slower SS as the shoulder and back looks sharp. They sure love their river beds when they have youngsters. Nice one Sanjeev!

Hi Sanjeev very nice to see this tender moment shot with a very short lens , think it shows how relaxed they must have been . The whole frame does look like there was some motion blur going on ?
Nice color and tones and i like the comp .

Nice image Sanjeev , TFS Andreas

    A special moment indeed!
Some good advice given already - I would have definitely opted for something like f4/ISO800 or even f5.6/ISO1600, even on the 7D?
The roots on the RHS in the BG do draw my eye, but other than that it's a great open setting for such an intimate moment with elusive subjects.
