    Default Out of the Fog

I truly enjoy photographing the Mt. Goats of Mt. Evans, CO. And I see Steve Canual also does with the previous image. I had a very foggy day and watched as goats appeared and disappeared as the fog changed moment by moment. I liked that I could get a little color in the yellow flowers here.

    Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS @ 70 mm, 1/1600, f8, +1 exp. comp., ISO 800

    C & C most appreciated.

Love the mood of this one Nancy. A nice contrast between the color of the summer flowers and the cool look/feel of the fog. Really captures the essence of the conditions. Lucky you could find them with the reduced visibility, I've struck out a few times under similar conditions.

A very beautiful image Nancy. I like the foggy setting with enough detail showing through. The HA of the little one looking slightly towards you makes this more interesting as do the flowers.

This is fantastic, one of my favourites of yours. I feel like I am there looking at them through the fog and mist. As a HK image i think its great. I don't really have a great understanding of HK but this seems to be what I would think HK is. Very nice Nancy!

Hi Nancy - I agree, this is great. I love the foggy feel to it but you still brought out great detail in the coats. This has the low contrast and toning of a traditional high key image. Only thing I might try is going a little brighter and whiter in the bg but without losing the foggy feel. Congrats on this one.

    Rachel

Hi Nancy, I'm not sure if this works for me as HK image, but do feel that addressing the black & a Curves adjustment still retains that foggy environment, but adds a bit more tonal depth to the image and therefore retains a lot more character compared to the OP. just personal choice and how we see things. Initial processing is certainly getting much better. Very like the windswept look of the shedding coat.

Hi Nancy this is great a very nice foggy HK image , good processed and i like the setting with the flowers and mummy with the youngster is looking great .
I think your OP works for me better than Steve´s RP , some of the nice mood is lost by his edits , as he says personal view !!!

    TFS Andreas

BTW agree with Steve regarding your PP work at the moment

Love the overall scene and associated foggy mood depicted here Nancy, certainly one of your best, I'm not keen on Steve's RP as it has lost the mood for me.
I'd go for somewhere in between with just Steve's detailed tonal work selectively on the goats but leaving the rest.

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful comments! Steve, I was attempting a balancing act between fog and detail with my OP. I do appreciate your approach, and thank you for your comment on my PP skills. I am working on it and find everyone's comments always adding to my knowledge.

Hi Nancy - I agree with Marc in his comments. I also love the scene and mood you captured in the the OP but with a bit of tweaking as suggested it would improve it slightly. TFS - Well done
