    Default Loon cuddling

This pair was taken last August in northern Michigan. The only chick that I got to follow last season, so special to me.

    D4 600VF TC-14eII f/10 ISO 800 1/640s Taken from my little boat, Loonie Too.

Post: Small crop for comp, selective sharpening. Softened the reflection as it neared the frame edge.

    Advice and comments always appreciated

    Cheers

Hi Randy, lovely tender moment captured between parent and chick, and you certainly know your exposure when it comes to the greens on parent's head. Your low shooting angle from your boat always looks great, and love the water BG.

What a wonderful, intimate scene. Love the water color, the pose, the POV. The chick was starting to get pretty big by the time you got this one.

Wonderful! The low angle looks like you were on your belly on a raft!

Do you have a tiny bit more room on the bottom to let the reflection come to an end? No big deal, though. Wonderful as is!

LOVE! Perfect capture of a special moment. Everything works beautifully here. Really like how the baby is going thru the "awkward" stage with some fuzz and pin feathers. Serene and complementary BG.
(brings on an episode of LDD: Loon Deprivation Depression... So looking forward to their return.) One of my (or even number one) favorite of your images.

Wonderful image! Amazing exposure, light, colours and interaction moment.
I would only like to see a composition were they're not so centered

Hi Randy - Intimate moment, beautifully captured. For me, in addition to the great low pov, it is the dof that takes this to another level.

Thanks everyone for the comments, always appreciated.

Rachel: I was pleased that I could shoot this at f/10, to get that extra DOF.

Tiago: I did crop in from the right before posting, as the original was even more centered. I think the adults head position in the frame works well as is. Didn't want to crowd the body too close to the edge.

    Cheers
