This photo was shoot during a dark rainy day, I kind of like the dark colours and the background.

    Very nice composition,
I would suggest taking just a tad off the top of the frame. I see noise in the background; and you might want to sharpen the eye just a wee bit...

Excellent and like the bird placement very much. Good waiting for the head to look back at you. Might take just a little up top for proportion.

Would run NoiseNinja to clean up some of the bg noise. Should be easy and not much you could have done. Did very well at that slow shutter speed. The head area would lighten just a bit and work on the eye !!! I do like the look very much and its a fine image !!!

Really neat placement of bird in this picture.
I took the liberty of trying Al's suggestion about applying Noise Ninja and the result is excellent.
Suggest you try this ( could use trial version) and then look at cropping as per Gus's suggestion to see which result you like best.

Wow, thanks for the great comments and tips. This must be the way best place on internet for a rookie-birdphotographer wanting to improve! Will try your suggestions on this photo as soon as I can.

Great capture, like the background as is. Agree with Gus regarding cropping of the top a bit.
