Default Blue Bill riding the Cheasapeake

Blue Bills are more black then any other color especially from this angle so I figured I would take a shot at the theme if there is not enough black please pull. If you catch some good light and hit the exposure you can pullout a nice green sheen to the head and that's what I tried to do here using DPP and PS. Canon 7DII 500f4+1.4, ISO 250,F5.6 @ 1/1000sec. Thanks for looking.

    Very nice.
Great head turn and iridescence shown.
I like the low POV ( of course) and good IQ throughout the image.
Is a blue bill the same as a scaup?
I feel as though the image should be rotated ever so slightly CW,
    Gail

Very nice to be able to pull color out of a dark bird. I love the soft water and low angle, too. I think Gail has a point about the rotation but no nits otherwise.

Thanks Gail and Diane. Yes they are the same.
We get both lesser and greater scaup here on the bay this time of year I believe this is a lesser?

I did see the same thing with the rotation editing but when I went a touch CW the small wave behind and left of the duck looked out of sorts. I ended up measuring off the ducks back on each side of the neck to the bottom of the frame and went with that as level. That's smooth as glass for the bay this time of year

Lovely details and eye contact. Nice shooting angle and comp. Can't think of anything that would improve this fine image.

Nice looking frame of what looks to be a drake Greater Scaup. Not always that easy to distingush between the two. The greater has a wider bill, rounder head and "usually" has more of a green sheen as apposed to the more purple sheen of the lesser. Plus the size difference which can only be seen in real life or while both species are shot together. Nice side profile and colors caught on this guy. Techs look perfect and I like the head on pose. Well done
