I'm sure that this won't be everyone's cup of tea with the snowfence element in the background, but I processed this image tonight because I like the delicaate color palette so thought I'd share with you and see what you think.
Nice BIF image, Grace. The background looks good. You can also apply a small amount of blur if you wish.
I did a quick Gaussian blur at 10 and it eliminated the fence look.

I think it is a very nice flight photo with a different pastel color BG.
I would never have known what the BG was if you hadn't mentioned it.I would crop the white off the top and take a bit off the right to compensate if you can.
Gorgeous flight shot. Who ever he or she is having eye on you.
Though I like the Karl's suggestion. I will go with OP, since, light colored fence in BG,darker behind it and vertical (oof probably grass) gives very nice 3D effect in the frame.
Superb image. Love the downstroke position, the light BG goes well with the Owl. I dont mind the BG as it is, would had not know it was a fence if it wasnt mention.
What a stunning background Grace, lovely wing position and eye contact and a super pleasing image to the eye. Well done! (Cant wait for a time when I will be able to photograph these beautiful owls)
Grace, this is a great capture and I too would not have known it was a snow fence till you mentioned it. Not only my cup of tea, but coffee, and whatever there is to toast with. Love the pastel quality of the BG, wings down, and detail.
The BG colors are "to die for". Would never have known it was a fence if you hadn't said so. I might be tempted to fill in the lighter sky areas at the top of the frame.
Great wing position and I like the comp you chose,
Gail
Hi Grace, you couldnt have captured a better wing position, and love the view of the eye. Overall well exposed on the Snowy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with your BG.
Just gorgeous! I also didn't recognize that as a snow fence, but the repeating elements are a slight attention-drawer. A blur might be interesting to try.
If it were me, I'd be tempted to take a little off the right. Although I love the softness there, the composition is a little more half-and-half than I would normally care for. And I'd clone a little into the white areas on top, just the ones on the right that drop down more into the image. The lighter areas at the top in the left half are more subtle and provide a nice gradient effect.
And now that I look at it again I'm wondering about the foggy look on the underwing -- surprisingly light and low contrast.
I too wouldn't have known it was a fence unless you told us that. Maybe a bit of blur if it bugs you. I really like the colors in the BG and the wing position you caught her in looks great with nice feather detail and exposure too. Good to see that you are getting some nice owl frames this season.
See ya soon Grace.

Thanks to everyone who looked and commented. I am glad that the background doesn't distract. I think I'll leave it as is, but agree on toning down the top bright edge. Diane, as for the underwing, the spots are on the top only, maybe that's what you are noticing? I didn't do anything to it.
