Hi all another captivated subject that is not that often posted , so thought i share this . Image taken at the same location as previous one , the same thing as with the European Bison a very large enclosure nicely structured even if freshly opened up, i guess in the future when all is settled and the plants/trees will have grown well worth to take shots just for the fun and practice or test new gear.
Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 200-400 at 400 mm
HH supported by elbows on a wooden base .
F 6,3 ; Iso 1600 ; 1/320 sec
Processed in DPP 4 and PS CC ; slight crop for comp . no more space on RHS sadly
Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting . C&C welcome as always .
very nice and good looking wolf all spot on, maybe... Let me look closer, just a sec.... yep the HL on it's cheek you should tame a bit and maybe on the legs too.
I know you are fine with it, but I just try to look closer like you do all the time. Yes, the other HL in this very green tree. I said "very" green... maybe that too. I know you love green
May I ask for the reason that you included this un-sharp thing in the FG? Aaah right, you just did this that I can do a bit picking
The rest what I have seen I leave to the others, they shall have some success feeling as well
Hi Andreas - I hope to see a few of these or at least his American cousins in the wild in a couple of weeks. Nice pose by the wolf but I too find the greens a bit strong for my taste. If it were mine I would reduce the blues in the blacks. However, my biggest problem with the image is the oof tree on the left. For me, it is a major distraction. Sorry.
Anette - There are at least 3 fleas not just one .
Lovely looking subject, be nice if you had them in the snow . The space on the right I think is OK, but perhaps a sliver more at the foot? Like Rachel, I do feel the green quite strong and powerful on the tree, looks faithful, but the tree and the green I just personally find too dominant and I'm surprised you left that line of vivid green in, thought you would have cloned that, certainly catches the eyes.
Just my take, but just softening thing a little perhaps may help although I think it's probably between the two, but again subject to taste.
I wonder what this scene looked like in real life, with those deep greens of the forest and the main character (wolf) so colourful. Lovely tones on the subject's fur by the way, there are so many shades of grey, blacks, browns, even reds. Those yellow eyes drew my attention instantly! Unfortunately so did the OOF tree, I guess you had to leave that in because you needed the space on the LHS of the image. Had the wolf turned its head to look at you, it would have been another "story"
Can we forget about "the enclosure" for a moment? This image makes me think of Wordsworth and his beloved landscapes. The presence of the wolf also stirs my imagination. One can almost hear the sound of leaves as the animal makes its appearance...hmm...perhaps he is playing hide-and-seek with its victim...A shadowy, generic presence most humans prefer to ignore, the rustling creature in the forest...
So I do like this image Andreas, quite inspiring. Steve's RP puts more emphasis on the animal by reducing the saturation on the greens. I am happy with the space on the bottom as well as on the RHS, tempted to say "crop the OOF tree on the LHS and clone in some bark there" but that would be too much to ask...even I won't do it... Nice detail on the wolf and lovely expression captured, sharp where needed, BG a tad busy but nothing you could do about it. Overall a lovely scene and something different - a nice contribution to the Wildlife forum, thank you Andreas
PS Anette, I am more concerned with the ticks than the fleas, LOL
Thanks Anette , Rachel and Steve for leaving your thoughts to this , much appreciated .
Anette - glad you found some stuff , the whites do look good to me in the subject , we can argue about the white fur that became back lit by the sun and the lighter parts hit by the sun on the tree .But all is looking quite natural nothing is blown , so really no need just cosmetic stuff and there for as i am not using any of that i leave it as is !!!
Well the stick in the FG was just lying there , as i was not allowed to jump in there i thought i leave it where it is , no major or even minor distraction ,to me .
Rachel already reduced the blue /cyan by -40 in saturation , i knew there was some left , but i can live with it , overall WB kept on the cool side .
Steve you are well right regarding looking natural greens , and might agree half way meeting would put more attention to the subject .For the overall contrast is fine and nothing is really plugged or blown , just a matter of taste , a tad too flat just for this frame . I left the OOF tree in because i found the edge too close to the face and going in too tight by removing it , but also agree both trees are not ideal from aesthetic POV . So it was a walk on a thin line ...... and i partly won or lost, depending on the view of things .
Sadly no more room on bottom , i cropped from LHS and top .
Thanks again folks for your valuable critique , cheers Andreas
Thanks Gabriela well your back onto track with your wording and comment , not bad and boring at all .Agree it would been nicer to have the head turned , but he did not as you can see , and yes Steve this is one of the alpha´s . Gabriela i never thought about to clone and will not do so , cause i am not that brilliant in that kind of work , i know it is possible to do , but not by me .
Thanks Charleen for swinging by and leave your comment .
