As you know I am a big fan of woodpeckers. And this one is particularly cool, as it is a juvenile bennet's woodpecker (the first youngster of this species that I have seen). Bennet's are special woodpeckers to see in South Africa and this youngster (who was searching for food with his mom) was a real treat.

I share your affinity for woodpeckers, and this is a neat looking one. Good low POV and nice pose. I don't know the bird, but I wonder if the whites (if they are indeed white) might be just a little brighter.

I like the pose and the colors look good to me, there is a bit of motion blur from slow shutter speed in the wing feathers but the head is sharp. I wish we could see the feet

I agree that this individual looks quite good! Nice pose with the head raised. Nice low angle, and from that perspective and in the grass I do not expect to see the feet anyhow. Well done overall.

Hi Rich, lovely low angle here, and I like the overall IQ in this. A great HA, colours look great, and well placed in the frame. Great sighting mate.

What a cool looking WP Richard. I really like the feather pattern and the red head on this fellow. Nice feather details and I like the head against that green BG. Well done

What a ridiculously good looking wood pecker! Beautiful details and colors, and I'm really enjoying this unique perspective. Haven't seen many super low angle WP images posted here. Perfect bird angle, placement, eye contact and details. Lovely work Richard.
