    Default WHAT DO YOU Want?

I meant as title: What do you want? Sorry, I think my keyboard is a bit nuts!

not sure if I ever posted that one! Macaques monkey in our graden, sort of. Taken about 10 years ago, wrong not 10 years, was with a different image. I got the 5D in 2005/6! Taken with that c-wonder thing with it's ISO OMG noise levels. I know Rachel you love it, I don't

However those monkeys invaded our garden and house every morning and evening in Kuala Lumpur down town. You say, what down town, I say YEEEEEES. They were a pain.
When we moved into the house, I was outside to discover that someone left a window open and some of them went inside to grab a bit shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom. Just to spread all on the roof. You laugh, at the beginning it was fun, but those were quite dangerous. Eventually I had to cut down a tree to get rid of them!

    Shot with

    5D - never again
    ISO 1600
    f/6.3 1/250sec

LR usual and cropped from horizontal to vertical
PS levels midtones and that's it, sharpened what was left of it in PS

Ha ha! A comical story Anette! Any 'tame' monkey troop is always cute on paper - not so in real life where they can be a real pain!

This guy reminds me of my yoga-like body positions during (my) last weekend's bird shoot from a flat bottom boat on a running river!

Hi Anette - I never shot with the original 5D so I don't know how it handled ISO and noise. You must have me confused with someone else. Love the pose. If it were mine I would tame the highlights on the tree bark a little more and would also do something about the specular highlights which distract.

    TFS,
    Rachel

P.S. I fixed the title for you.

Hi Anette the title fits very well to the image , good combo !!
I love the framing and the funny look of the Macaque. I am fine with the overall tone and color and really like the greens . The detail is looking a bit coarse in the fur of the subject , sadly . No better option for achieving a bit finer detail .
I think our small relatives are so great subjects to photograph , but can be a pain in the ... when it comes to live with them !! Right ??!!

Thank you very much Tobie, Rachel & Andreas.

Rachel I might have been confused with the 5D, but you have such don't you, than it must be the 5DII or so. Thanks for fixing the title, I was not able too, or maybe to blind to find it where!
The very first 5D was ^&%$#*@####$@#..^%%$#@#&^%$# I have ever owned since I take photographs. Even my Minolta M700 nearly 30 years back was better and the Rolei made in Germany ( yep still have the antiques, the Rollei still works like a charm, just no shop here anymore to develop the films )

Andreas, the detail that is the noise!!! Sadly

The noise is for me in this image a killer. I redo it again, but won't post it again I'd rather post something better

Thank you very much again for your comments and time

    Ciao Anette

Anette - somehow we didn't mind so much when noise was present in prints from film. We just called it grain.. Btw the only 5 series I have ever had is the 5D3 and it does well with high ISOs and noise.

Rachel, lolol, yep should call it grain than too. It got a bit better after reworking on it now and just do with it what I wanted and see

Be sooooooo happy, that you did not had this 5D original out of the box @#%%$$#@@!#$%^&*
When you went higher than 800ISO than the force needed to be with you full power for noise.
Maybe also at that time this one was best with noise, who knows. I give s.. sorry for my French.

    Have a great eve

Hi Anette, IQ isn't great. Also the brightness on the trees are a little high. But I love the pose and comp.

Hi Anette, love the pose and curious posture of this guy. The framing of the tree trunks is excellent and really lends itself to the monkeys position.

Yes there is more you can get out of it as we both know, hope you achieve it.

    All the best.

    Hello Anette

I too think you can get more out of this - love it nevertheless, the subject so expressive and I so like the body language from the little monkey, kind of provocative and alert and about to run as soon as you made a move:)

Anette - you have the eye for that which moves one's imagination and you are a great photographer and "spotter" of things (you know what I mean), if this were mine I would "soften" or rather, reduce those greens in the BG a tad, I am fine with the tree trunks and the subject otherwise - really enjoyed viewing, thank you!

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks so much Steve, I achieved quite a bit, not quite what I was hoping, maybe works
    Thanks again

Gabriela, I am a good spotter for Chili Biltong, Amarula and Savannah Dry not to forget the G&T.

After these images, only 4, this one has best expression and look, I tried to get closer and moved from my safety zone, but sadly no other monkey had the same idea. However, I tried to get it done a bit better.
    Will see.

    Have a great eve

    Ciao Anette

Being an old Minolta user going back to the mid 70's, I can't remember an M700, do you mean the X700 (early 80's), as that was one of my favourites also.

Was that an X, need to dig that old ham out of the box. If you say X, than yes. I loved that one. Now it gives not even a click anymore. Well last time I tried there was nothing working at all, but the little Rollei works great

    Thanks a lot Marc

Fingers cross Anette, if you want some more info on the file drop me a line, but I'm sure you have cracked it and resolve the issues, if not, let Arc have a go.
