Taken this evening in Arizona. First shot at BIF with my new D7100. Been having some problems getting sharp pics with this camera
Nikon D7100, 1/8000 @ F 5.6, ISO 800, -1/3 EV, 500 mm
Beautiful pose, and you stopped the action nicely. I see you cranked up the shutter to 1/8000 and had your ISO at 800. These little guys can be fast, and so every bit counts to stop them in their tracks. Nice timing, and a pleasing POV.
I like the background colors, the non-traditional wing position, and the perfect EXP.
It looks as if the near wing with its spectacular detail is just a bit sharper than the head. Can you tell where the active sensor was with Nikon?

I really like the wing position.
I see a fair bit of noise in the BG but that is an easy fix.
You really shouldn't need so much SS to freeze this duck in flight. 1/3200 should be more than enough allowing for more DOF or reduced ISO.
I like the colors in the water and the nice light and POV you have.
Looking forward to more with the new camera,
Gail
Hi Roy, love the eye level angle in this, and I also like the forward wing position of the duck. The colours of the duck and BG compliment each other nicely. If this were mine, I would take a bit off the bottom.
