Not a lot of Nikon shooters here, but for those interested, the price of the 610 has really come down.
$1496 for a FF sensor w/ 24 mp.
I bought as a backup to my D800 and shot with it a bit yesterday afternoon.
Nikon is pretty much out of the cropped sensor business it seems and I much prefer FF anyway.
It has the AF system of the D7000 which is not really new and they should have upgraded it.
The sensor has the IQ of the D800 with smaller files. I tested it against the D800 at iso6400 and could not tell the difference
so it should work well in Oregon low light...
It is faster (6 fp/sec) and much quieter than the D800.
The buffer is also better with the smaller files.
This is the female Bufflehead with a crop of about 30% of the full image at iso1000.
Even with less pixels, the cropping ability is about as good as the D800 which surprised me.
All in all, I will mostly use it for Landscape but for Nikon shooters who want to jump to FF, it is
a very good deal for the money right now.
f5.6, 500mm (300f2.8 w/ 1.7), iso1000, 1/1000 sec.
Sounds like a good deal alright. Great low angle, comp, colours. I like the ripples in the water. Details excellent. A better head angle would have been awesome, and maybe less of a blue cast on the body.
Thanks for the camera info and for sharing the image. I agree with Dan's comments but for the fact that a "better" head angle here would have left the bird's face at least partly in the shade....

Excellent image. Great details, very nice water droplets on head and neck. Like the low shooting angle, ripples and beautiful composition.
Nice information.
A beautiful image of a lovely duck. Tight in the frame, but that allows the great detail to show nicely, which I think was your intent. The bluish shadows already noted. Otherwise a fine image that makes me want to go out and buy the D610.
