    Captured this image at the L A County Zoo. Canon Rebel XT, hand held, 70-300mm Sigma lens, Aperture Priority, F/6.3, ISO 200, 168mm, 1/640. PS to clone out some distractions and crop and some saturation.

    Those flamingos do have some beautiful color and the dark BG help to bring those colors out. I might crop a little off the top and right to put the head of the main flamingo closer to a corner. I think that reds can be hard to expose and in this case some on the neck may be slightly overexposed.

    Hi Tom,

    Looks like you found one very colorful Flamingo. I do love the color in this image, but it seems just a bit dark and oversaturated. I agree with Lanas crop suggestion. I'm not real fond of the composition even with the crop suggestion. I think it would be better to try for a comp that included the entire bird or go for a closeup of the head an neck area with an interesting look and lots of feather detail. Also try to avoid the other birds in the Bg or else include them in a pleasing way. Something to consider if you get another chance to photograph these Flamingos.
