    Default Little Lady Wilson's

This image was made on Saturday morning while out at Ft. Desoto. This female Wilson's Plover occupied (along with hubby) one of the sand spits of North Beach. I'm happy that I was able to make images of both the male and female that morning.

Ft. Desoto is one of those places that I will rarely walk away from disappointed. If I have the desire to make an image... I will do whatever it takes to make it.

While a slight head turn may add to the intimacy of this image, I like it the way it is ;)

    Shooting Solution
    Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: Sigma 500 f/4.5, manually focused
    Manual Exposure, 1/1250 @ f/8, ISO 400
Hand held while laying in the sand

Comments welcome and much appreciated :)

    Thanks for looking!

A beautiful bird, Blake - sharp, classic pose, and low angle. I love the mood and the pastel colors in the background.

re: the head turn, I feel as though there is good eye contact.
The sharp "softness" in your work is amazing

Nice Blake, the BG and the light is especially appealing. HA looks good to me.

    Hey Blake,

Love the low angle and exposure. I think the lower BG looks a little busy but a fine image as it is!

I also love the low angle and the bird position, the BKGR is also great!

Hey Overlord, it was great to spend some time with you yesterday! A treat for sure :)

I understand the head angle argument, but I'm also fond of pure profiles, almost as much I''d say, it really shows the beak and shape of the head better. My personal taste, though ;)

Very nice image and you are getting good work with manual focus! I had a hard time this trip without contacts!

Simply beautiful on all counts Blake. As already mentioned your combination of sharpness were needed and the wonderful softness puts this over the top. Love it.
