    Default Keel Billed Toucan

I've been absent here for a while with little time for photography. It was nice to finally take a break and photograph some of the gorgeous Costa Rican birds.
Out of my 10 day trip, I only photographed for 2.5 days (the rest being devoted to touristy stuff with the wife), but I think I came back with a lot more keepers than any trip to any other place. Amazing place, gorgeous birds, friendly and warm people.
Many thanks to Jim Crosswell for his guidance with locations etc. and to Tom van den Brandt for additional info.

Portrait of a keel billed Toucan at a pre-made set-up.
A bird I always wanted to see in real life.
Evicted a couple of tiny bits of fruit from the bill.

Absolutely beautiful. I live really close to Costa Rica and yet I have never been there. There seems to be so much great photos form there than I cant wait to plan my trip there.

Superb image, wonderful colors all in perfect focus.

Excellent image Sidharth! I like the IQ, details, open bill, exposure, composition and the tongue really adds to the image. Hope you got the Tanagers too. I am glad the information was helpful and look forward to seeing more.

    WOW!
You really nailed this one Sid!
The details are just superb as is the rendition of the colors.
You have a beautiful complimentary BG to go with the bird.
Love it and cannot think of any way to improve it.

Just Beautiful, Bird and image, I would so love to have an image like this, Its on my Bucket list. As the bird is essentially flawless, I may clone the two stray dark hairs on the lower neck line.

Just a beauty Sidharth! IQ is to die for. I love that we can see the serrated jaw and tongue. I agree with Robert about the 2 dirty yellow feathers.

Hey Jim, yes! I did get a few tanagers, honey creepers and aracaris. Lots of images to process through (a good problem to have).
No speckled tanager though - that'll have to wait until the next trip.
Thanks again for your help at such short notice.

Hi Sid, brilliant exposure throughout, and you certainly nailed the detail too. I really like the striking colours, that all blend in so well together. Killer smooth BG. The visible tongue puts this over the top.

A belated Happy New year to you too.
