Hi Artie i guess a group of penguin, whatever species this is , and zoomed out during exposure . I guess you have used a tripod for this .I personally find the blues and the intensity of this color at bit intense.
TFS Andreas ,
How about a zoom blur of penguins?
I find it hard to believe that the upper left corner and the top edge of this photo would be like this for a group of penguins -- assuming a zoom in/out keeping the camera steady.
The lower right corner has some nice rounded forms, as does the center, and the blue areas appear like they are in roughly horizontal bands zigzagging upwards/downwards, so I wonder if these are feathers, but then there would probably have to be an extension tube used. Oh well, I say feathers![]()
Hi, Artie, I'm pretty sure those are penguin heads in the center so I'm guessing it's a zoom blur done in camera? However, upon closer examination I'm thinking zoom blur, HDR Art Vivid in camera? Welcome home![]()

Two out of three aint't bad :). It is a zoom blur of King Penguins from my recent Southern Ocean trip. But where did the colors come from??? Hint. Someone used this technique here quite recently.

Your trip sounds like it was spectacular. Looking forward to all the images from it. Curves inverted to create these colors?
I was going to mention inverted as my second choice. I'll be interested to see the answer![]()

Nancy was close (I believe) but Cheryl hit the nail on the head (I think). After creating an over-exposed version of the original I created a duplicate layer (Ctrl + J) and then simply hit Invert. It was so dark that I needed to pul the curve up a mile. I will try to post the original zoom blur here asap.

Lots of penguins!!!! Very dynamic with the zoom blur with great shapes and movement. Curious as to what the areas of purple are are? Snow?
Thanks Jackie and all. The purple in the original is snow. As here.
