You should be a set designer -- I love the environment in your shots! Just enough head turn, and delicate soft lighting on the head showing off great detail.
Excellent image of beautiful bird in absolutely superb environment with wonderful lights and shadows.
Love the 3D effect in the frame.

Satish.
Nice one John, I like the setting and pose, somehow the processing seems better and colours more natural.
Lovely image John, nice to see the grouse in it's environment. Excellent colors, easy to see how this bird would blend in. Nice head turn. Thank you for sharing.

I'm impressed with the detail for such a large crop, especially with the 50-500John, very nice.

Beautiful environment, light, pose. A keeper on all counts. Maybe just a tiny bit oversharpened on the bird?
Hi Jon, I like the setting here, even though some of the foliage is all over him - works for me. I do like the light and overall colours.
Nice one John, very 'natural' looking image I like the FG. Well done
Love the light, alert pose and composition, John.
Love the pastel habitat quality surrounding this beautiful bird, John. Like the detail and nice head turn.

Thanks a lot everyone. These birds are pretty scarce around here and I don't travel much these days. Go0d to see that pretty basic gear can produce pics that folks enjoy !
