An old one for this month's theme. This was taken on an early September, early evening, overcast day back in my early days of picture taking. This juvenile was part of a group of three pups that I frequently observed running through the fields during this summer. He was very relaxed as he observed me and stayed that way as I left. 20D, 500/4 + 1.4xTCII, f5.6, 1/400s, ISO 400, HH from vehicle, cropped to 60% of original frame, PP'd in PSE 10.
I like the look down/elevated angle to the viewer on this one, the vertical main body, head straight on and ears alert. With the overall body posture I feel I want to move the whole frame to the right so you have the impression he is almost resting against the RHS. Obviously not, but maybe having say half the space to the RHS and more to the left may be another option, although you may have also chosen it so the green plant isn't truncated? Just my interpretation. Hope to see more.
Hi Steve - He looks thin. I like the straight down the barrel look at camera. Although you could go with Steve's suggestion and crop just to the left of the green plant. Very brave to post an image from back in 2007, it shows how far you've come since then though.
This coyote is so cute! Also kind of "cunning" at the same time, and reminds me of our jackals here in South Africa. Love the pose - slightly defiant; maybe relaxed, yes, but ready to take off if the situation requires:) The eye contact really makes this image for me, really enjoyed viewing and I thank you so much for sharing this. Good point on crop from Steve, if you have the time to try it out I would love to see the RP.
Hi Steve for the techs given and a crop from that "old" camera you did really well .
I quite like the overall look &feel of the image and the pose of the Coyote .As this is already cropped i think you cannot make it better , unless you really loose IQ .
Sometimes really nice to dig through old "Corkers" ......... i have heard these days . .
what a look this animal gives you, great. I like this one very much and details and all is fine with me as well. never saw one in real, maybe some day.
Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. Went with this comp for the head on look. As Steve noted, didn't want to cut to much of the green weed so used that as my reference for the edges.
