    Default Great Gray Owl.

Another owl image from two years ago that I only just processed recently. Flight pictures of any owls can be impressive enough, but even some simply posing perched can look quite intense with their piercing eyes!

Beautiful image Dan. The BG colours along with the snow make the eyes even more piercing Fab perch aswell. Nice sharpness and colours on the bird. Good work.

Did you ever think of removing the loose feathers on the side ? I think I would have left them aswell

Those eyes are fixed on the viewer Daniel, great looking Owl on a smashing setting, much prefer a bird with a few ruffled feathers much more natural IMHO,nearly forgot that snow is the icing on the cake.

Stunning! Beautiful owl with a piercing stare. The snow really puts it over the top, and I also like the hint on color on the perch. He feels as if he's leaning a little to our left; perhaps that's what he is doing. Had you considered a slight rotation to place his pupils on a horizontal line?

    Daniel:
Another beauty, nice color palette, snow, piercing eyes, wind blown feathers.

I actually like the slight lean to the left coupled with the feathers, looks like he is leaning into the wind

I might consider removing the one bright snow flake between the eyes.

    Well captured.

    Cheers

Posing posture of this beauty works for me! Those EYES! Snowflakes really add to the image, as do the wind-blown feathers. The only reason I might think about a slight CW rotation is that some viewers wouldn't realize that he is leaning into the wind a bit. (but then the perch would maybe be too horizontal.) Hope to see one of these someday!

Simple and effective frame Dan. I like the snow and matching tonalities throughout.

Actually I think it's one of the better static shots I have seen of this species, and there allot to go around. Has it all. A great looking individual, perfect eye contact, nice looking branch, sweet details and just the right amount of snow. I would be stoked to have this in my files. Well done.

I think the snow and those piercing eyes make this shot.

Gorgeous image of a dream bird. I am off to Mongolia in 3 weeks time, there are 10-11 species of owls there although if we *only* connect with the GG, Ural, Hawk & Snowy I'll be over-joyed ! Any tips for shooting owls in cold weather (I have the clothing it's shooting tips I'm looking for). Cheers, Kevin.

    Dear Daniel,

If I were to write a book on owls this image would be on its cover. Something charming and really quite magic about the snow and that silvery BG, a thoughtfully composed image with great IQ and natural colours, as expected from you:) Love your work, this is superb!

    Kind regards,
