I captured the bird this morning whilst it was snowing in low light conditions, hence the high ISO settings. I would have liked a faster shutter speed but I think it turned out ok. I would also have liked to get a wee bit lower, but the perch he chose was too low for me to do this.

    Thanks for having a look

Lovely image, I can only imagine how close you were. Never have I gotten that close to a Kingfisher. Love the colors, background and detail in the feathers. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice image - I have never been able to get a clear view of one, either its a turquoise flash or its behind twigs!

Thanks Keith, I was in that hide I was telling you about I got for Christmas. Sitting on a local loch side for a while hoping to get some wintering ducks on the loch, when this guy turned up and fished the area for about an hour

William I swear by my pop up hides, easy to carry and store in the boot of the car, looks like it worked well for you.

Lovely colors and nice detail, especially around the eye and head. Some evidence of the high ISO elsewhere, but very good for ISO 4000 and relatively low SS. Nicely done in low light.

Looks good for the high ISO. I'd be dead in the water with a 50D haha. I like the soft look but I could also go for a small contrast boost to the face. Personal preference of course.

    Looking forward to more!

A beautiful image William, looks great for 4000 ISO. Love the turquoise highlights. An excellent job getting so close.

I looked at this first and found myself wishing for less of a downward angle...then I read your comments and you said the same thing. Not a deal breaker though, and the image is very attractice. Colors, sharpness, all beautiful.
