    A different bird/subject for this months theme, even out chilling I can't put the camera down.

    Subject: Carib grackle (Quiscalus lugubris), side profile on armchair
    Location: Barbados
    Camera: Canon 1DX
    Lens: 70-200 f/2.8 MKII plus 1.4x MKIII HH
    Exposure: 1/500s at f/7.1 ISO2500
    Format: Landscape, almost FF, very slight crop

    A little manipulation of the BKG to remove some distracting highlights in the foliage.

    A wonderfully exposed image ... and that eye draws me right in!

    Interesting choice of perch for this guy. :)

    Hi Miguel, these are just like Starlings, hanging around the breakfast area or pool for any offerings, ever the optimist and a real pain at times as they will seize anything big or small. The 'perch' was one of the loungers near the pool.

    I like the pose Steve but wish for better perch, I am not seeing much detail in the chest blacks

    I think there is enough there Arash, for me the balance of contrast i.e. white of the lounger/black of the subject is good and detail retained in both. Certainly I feel it doesn't need opening up, EV was already at +0.67 for the subject, any more and I think the chair would start to loose out?????

    The location was at our hotel, so have to take what you get for a perch.
