What a great looking bird and your tree/perch is pretty nice. Nice details in your bird. I only wish the bird were facing just a tad more toward the viewer.

    Nice work William.

Whilst I agree with what Marina said about the head angle, having tried and failed numerous times with these little fellas and watching the way they climb, this is a good capture. Definitely not an easy bird to shoot

What a pretty perch. Agree abit of a head turn our way would have been pretty special but still a very nice image,

nice BG setting off the bird and the Birch does the same. We have this bird in the states also and it is a challenge to get good images....best I have seen is yours! The foot to body size ratio is amazing on these and you captured it well.

Nice shot William I know just how tricky these little chaps can be. Exposure colours sharpness etc very good. Very small criticism head angle and tip of tail otherwise first class.

Great capture. Every time I approach one of these they move round to the other side of the trunk. It's usually pretty dark in the areas they inhabit so you have done a good job with the exposure and shutter speed. Just a pity that the head is not turned slightly towards you.

Yep, a tough one to photograph for sure!! We were lucky last year that a creeper was frequenting a winter feeding station and eating the scraps of suet fallen on the ground. I love the perch and BG. Yes, a bit better head angle would have been great but one can be forgiven with this stubborn species to photograph. If mine I'd likely perform a bit of eye work on the pupil, and perhaps create a version with a bit more space top and right (10-15% more)

I agree with comments above, a better HA would have made a big difference here. it looks good otherwise

Love it, head angle is typical of the bird.

I shot one of these in the summer, also on a birch but as the bird was looking directly at me it made him look like a Gremlin. Somewhere in between works well.

Hi William, great to see you out & about in a different location, was there snow there? These guys are small & fast, so well done. Can only echo Dan's feedback, good to see you pushing that ISO.

Thanks Steve, hardly any snow at all even on the mountains there was only a sprinkling. It was perfect day for a walk to Ben Macdui and look for that Snowy Owl that was hanging about there. This weekend is a differnt story. We had a fierce storm 2 nites ago, Lots of damage

    Take care

    William

Good luck if you get to see a Snowy, they are great birds. Yes quite a ferocious storm that blew through 70mph+ for us, an ideal time to stay in a try to loose this dam cold.

    All the best for 2015.
