    This image was taken last week from a blind on a woodland pond. 40D, 500 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/400, f/5.6, ISO 400. I selected the eye and darkened the pupil. I also repaired a few missing breast feathers using Quick Mask, removed a few specular highlights, and cropped from the bottom and a little from the right for composition. I estimate that the head is turned 0.5 degrees toward me (maybe it's 0.05 degrees). :) Now - if only the purple cheek patch was lit up by the light ...

    Steve, This is so beautiful. Clean, crisp, great details, right down to the water droplets on his breast.

    Oh yeah I like this alot. The perch has just the right amount of buoyancy, and I like the nice view of the Wood Duck's webbed feet...
