The reds look good over here and I really like the tail feathers and the strutting pose. Details and exposure look good. A head turn would have put this one over the top. Well done
Come join me for a Custom Raptor Workshop starting this November 2019- January 2020.
P.M. me to inquire on dates, pricing and availabilities. Thank You. www.davidsalemphotography.com
I think the reds should be significantly more saturated (I am not sure if there is a large difference between the play season and other parts of the year). In the "Eager to Learn" forum there is a shot (Black Grouse - Ouch)
from late april when they where fighting about the females.
Thanks guys, Thanks for that Svante ,spent a lot of time with these birds, and looking at my monitor it looks ok but like I said very interested to see how others see it ,will take a look((Black Grouse - Ouch.)
Love the light you had in this image. And the fanned tail is very nice. Almost missed the raised foot in the grass
Reds look good to me.
Agree on the head turn but still a fine image,
Gail

Nice work Keith. The head turn mentioned above would be nice but the bird's head is pointed straight in relation to body so the image still works though in such circumstances I would prefer the bird smaller and looking into more space.
The red wattles present as a sort of salmon pink on my monitor. The wattles on a healthy bird are more a post box red or poppy red. I think the image as a whole requires a bit more saturation especially with red and a bit of yellow and this may go some way to correcting the wattles but I think you need to go back to the original image to get the wattles right.
Nice one Keith, agree with what AD says , the red is too pinkish on my screen , needs to be a little more saturated. Everything else looks great.
Must catch up with you again- by the way the way the snowdrops are coming up now, wont be long before they open their little flowers.
Hi Keith a gorgeous image of this bird. Agree with David's comments likewise Adrian's on the red comb, but I would try Selective colour (with a mask) to avoid loss of detail, as I have found Saturation clogs/chokes the detail if pushed too much. I might have lost the stone on the RHS peeking through the mush.
Thanks guys it looks like about 50/50 on the reds, have usually posted these birds with a bit more saturation so will go back to that with my next post of these birds.Ivan if you would like some more give me a bell, Steve will e mail you re the mask if that's ok .
