Wonderful image Satish. These are common in my area but doesnt make them any less spectacular.

Like the setting. Typical sparrowhawk habitat

Thanks for sharing and happy new year

A lovely shot, Satish. Maybe just a sliver on the bottom for the virtual tail? Congrats on the lifer.

Have a Happy New Year! Thanks for all of your comments in 2014.

Thanks a lot for the comments,Sir. I do not have space at the bottom. This is cropped from horizontal (full frame) to vertical. Tail was obscured by another branch.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Congratulations on the lifer, Satish. This is a striking raptor and you captured a beautiful pose. Amazing concentration in those eyes.

Good techs. I might want space for the tail but it matters less in this image. I can handle a busy BG but the two light twigs which emanate from each supercilium are distracting as are the wider branches that come out of each shoulder. But still a good capture.

Congrats on this new species for you, Satish. Good light and great details. You must have been pretty close for such details with the 100-400. The BG is a bit busy, but there isn't much you can do about it. Happy New a Year to you. Loi

I love the stare and the talon! Nice light. If you had time taking a few verticals in-camera would have given you the space below (sometimes easier said in hindsight!).

Congrats on the rarity and lifer...and especially...Happy New Year to you, too.

Lovely image Satish, I saw one in Tirupati early December 2013. It roosted each night in a tree against the apartment I was staying in. I got a pretty ordinary document only shot. Definitely a lifer for me as were most of the birds I saw in India.
