Thought I would post one more to the theme this month.
We were fortunate to have a pair of mating lions next to our vehicle one morning on our recent Kalahari trip - so being true to my journey of putting down the telephoto lens and reaching for shorter lenses, I shot with a 24-70mm.

Thanks to everyone for their participation this year - have a very happy and prosperous 2015 with good light and good sights! :cheers

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s
    Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 @ 42mm
    Kenko Pro CPL
    f5.6 | 1/400 SS | ISO-800

Hi Morkel. Super image and use of wide angle lens to show case the lions and environment. Great techs too with the use of CPL. TFS. Happy new year to you and family. Cheers

I thought for a moment the title said "love hurts" ..................which would work just as well.

Nice inclusion of habitat with good overall colour (from CPL) and shadow detail.

    Hi Morkel

Really nice one. I like habitat, and would like to see more of this than all the close-ups. I this case I would of course liked them to be a bit less in shadow of them self. To me the back of the male lion is a little to sharp against the background. Maybe it is just me.

Hi Morkel - I like the use of the wide angle and CPL here and the inclusion of the habitat. Looks like the lighting was difficult with both strong shadows and highlights. The image tells a story.

    Happy New Year and TFS,
    Rachel

Agree with the previous posters here Morkel. Habitat provides a nice setting and I like the shadows stretching across the ground.

Hi Morkel, very nice image... couldn't they get just a room?

I just love love that there can be more seen of the bush in this image. Usually those images of lions mating the frame is filled with the lions with nothing around!

Wish sh you as well a fantastic new year

    Ciao Anette
