Interesting image here Sanjeev, what species of jackel is this? It has a very "wolf" like head, and looks quite large?

Nice attentive pose, with the OOF FG grasses well handled, was this a large crop?

Thanks Marc. Not sure of the species. This guy just popped up in the grasses adjacent to the property we were staying in during a morn walk. It's a minor crop for comp. the IQ of 7D is weird, at 800 ISO sometimes it looks coose and at 3200 it doesn't look bad based on the light and exposure. Waiting to see if 7D II is worth the upgrade over it as a back up to my 5D3.

Hi Sanjeev - I agree with Marc, it does look wolf like and bigger than African jackals. Nice look back pose. This does have the grittiness that some 7D files get if they are underexposed and corrected or if too much clarity is applied. I too am waiting on the 7D2 due to reports on focusing issues.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Sanjeev , agree with the comments above regarding IQ , this a good example why to bin the 7D . In other images the performance looks stunning compared to this one .
I quite like the look back pose and the inclusion of the habitat . Sadly the head is partly hidden by foliage , not much you can do afterwards .
I think the image carries too much reds in parts , but you have been there .

This is a Golden Jackal that lives widely across the Sub Indian Continent .

    TFS Andreas

Thanks for the ID Andreas. I have already reduced reds and magentas but the grass and mud is of that color so it's correct. In those safaris we get covered in a layer of red dust

Nice pose and good-looking specimen here.
Agree about the grittiness - I thought this was ISO-3200 or so until I saw your EXIF
In an ideal world that tree with green leaves in front would have vanished LOL

Hi Sanjeev, very nice of this new comer species I had the 7D for probably 3 month and ditched it as fast I could. That was the badest investment in a camera I ever did. The images I have from this camera takes the longest to process, tempted just to bin them all!
Good luck with the new 7D2 I would go rather to another 5D, but have not seen yet the files of the new 7D2. Well I never will, healed of this thingy.

wish you a happy new year

    ciao Anette
