Weird winter so far, with an early start to it and lots of snow...but now we've had a mild stretch melting most of it away. Cold snap coming up though! First time this season that I manage an outing for Snowy Owls, and this one was kind enough to pose on this beautifully weathered old fence post. Quite a dreary day, as this about as bright as the day got.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/4, ISO 800, FF, natural light, handheld, warmed up the WB, lots of contrast added, punched up the yellow irises, NR to the BG.

    Daniel:

A beauty, with one of the better man made perches I have seen.

    Soft bg. Nice post work.

Your weather sounds very much like ours in Mich. Record cold and snow in Nov, mid 40s on Christmas Day.

    Look forward to more!

What a beauty this is, Daniel. Love the fence, the dark background, and of course the owl. No nits. Keep 'em coming.

Awesome. Love the penetrating gaze... tangle of wires is subdued just enough ... beautiful balance. Thank you!

Love the IQ and that wonderful stare directly at you, Daniel. Great BG, post and rusted wire fence.

Like this a lot, I like the barb wire perch and a perfect BG.
It looks like perfect Snowy Owl light to me.....
