Another Bald Eagle

Another bald eagle, though with Alans shot I think I am just going to stop posting and wait until I get to Alaska for bald eagle shots as the light seems way better there as well as the action and ability to get close to it. Conowingo is rather limited to say the least. Anyhow, horrid light, but at least I got the shot. I really don't understand how people get those shots with light under the wings, in all my times there you always get shots that either blow out the head completely, or you have to raise the shadows quite a bit like here in post (about a stop).

Sharp and as nice an angle as you get get looking up.
You will never get the kind of exposure Alan has at this angle, no matter what the light is.
His is looking at the bird at eye level, a big difference.
The whites look good, the blacks are blocked, but almost impossible to do much better with the contrast in light.

Look as good as you can get with the conditions. Would do for me. I have the same probs with Buzzard over here. You have to have late in the day low light or get a better position and it never works for me. Not yet anyway !Cheers

Nice wingspread, and considering the crop the details look good. Yes, angle of light and perspective on subject play a huge part in lighting under the birds. A low sun coming from behind you (on cloudless days, which you clearly did not have) would have lit the area in question, especially with the subject lower. As posted I do think the compo needs more room top and bottom (and then a bit left and right to retain the ratio).

Beautiful wingspread.... I would like to see a bit more room too. Great focus on face and tail, but the really dark wings are a bit distracting.

Thanks all, This is a crop of the bottom part of the image so there is no more actual room at the bottom, that is why I cropped it tight all around to keep the ratios even, I could add some canvas as with such an image it is rather easy.
