    Default 7D Battery Level Icon

Just received my new 7D. How do I turn on the light in the LCD viewer on top of the camera to view the battery level and other data? Thought it would be similar to how I activated that function on my 50D - slightly depress shutter to wake up, then hold down the small button to light the window. Can't seem to get any combination of steps to turn it on - couldn't find the how-to in the manual.

    Would appreciate any help.

    Regards,

    Jonathan

On your 50D the button was just above the LCD and furthest to the left. On the 7D it is the button furthest to the right and is slightly smaller than the other three buttons on the row. You operate it in the same way as you did with your 50D.

    Good luck with your camera

Thank you, Kind Sir! I bought the 7D to use its video mode periodically along with my stills for bird photography. It's going to take a lot of practice to figure out how to used that dimension for short takes.
