    I like the pose but the pelican is blurry (from slow SS) and too large in the frame

    A most unusual and effective preening pose, but the sharpness isn't ideal, as mentioned by Arash.

    The exposure looks good, and the separation from the dark background is quite good.

    This is such a fun, unusual image and would have worked well if not for the blur. You can try a little more sharpening on the head to see if that helps. It's the environment, color scheme and pose here which make for the interesting image.
