    Default Grey Heron

    Grey Heron - Tilapia
A cold morning in Hyderabad (India) and the 2 hr wait was worth every bit. The grey heron was as patient as a sage and plucked this huge tilapia out of the cold water with a splash. However these fresh waters are also home to more herons and fight for food and survival gets very competitive at times.

Really like the bird with the fish and the overall clean blue BG. I just think there is a too much negative space. I would crop a bit from top and move the bird a bit more to the center.

I like the image, Very attractive bird, a bonus that he has a meal. The water color looks good. The face area looks slightly over saturated to me.

Beautiful bird, great prey item, very nice light. I could see a version with less negative space and it looks like you have some hot highlights on the head. Did you clone some things out of the water because it appears the water is out of focus where it should be in focus and vice versa and the DoF falloff appears a little abnormal for 300mm at this working distance? I'd love to see some more shots from this location.

The heron and its' prey look good, colours vibrant, and the comp is good as is IMO. I too see possible evidence of cloning in the water in front of the heron's legs.

Thanks friends. I do realize that i should never edit my images while on a flight :P There sure is some cloning artefacts clearly visible. I do have more images from the series and will post it once im back from the trip with a better crop. Hopefully that will not require any cloning at the first place. Thanks again for all the valuable feedback
