    Hello Everyone,
Here is another installment in the series of the Nanaimo Estuary rough-legged hawk. She is getting even more used to us now and has taken to perching on shrubs about six feet off of the ground.

    Stats: EOS-1D Mark 4, 600mm F/4 IS2, 1/1600sec, F/5.6, ISO800

    Take care,

this is excellent Steve, love the dynamic pose with wings up, good exposure with sharp details. I see some compression artifacts in the BG, saving a higher quality might help mitigate it

Love the vertical crop, great looking bird, great complimentary BG. I'd consider raising the exposure about 0.5 a stop. I also wish this was mine. I'd love to see more as you spend more time with the hawk.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the nice compliments. It does loose something in the translation when you put it on with the 900px vertical restriction. Check out the larger version at : https://www.flickr.com/photos/92394082@N04/16005560066/

I can't believe you have such a tame Rough-legged Hawk to photograph, I'm just drooling at every image of it that you post. I love the wings up pose...was it taking off or balancing on the thin branches?

A beauty, Steve. Love the wing position, the dark bg. I'd be tempted to brighten the eye just a tad.

Hi Daniel, This is a take off shot. Got about three frames before she left the branch. Sometimes you can get about 20 feet away and she will perch about 6 feet off of the ground.
