    Hi all ,
have posted a similar image before of the same Oryx female under that tree in the Auob River . This specific female came very close all midday to me . So i took numerous shots with all different crops in camera .

This time for Rachel without the horns , but with a cut off ear .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L + 1,4 TC
i guess my swinging lens support , not sure , because i swopped all the time , just for the fun of it.

    F 9 ; Iso 400 ; 1/800 sec , even with f9 not enough DOF

Processed with DPP and PS CC ; cropped for comp

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment to my previous posting.

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - Thanks and I like it a lot! Love the reflection in the eye and I think it works without the horns . Yes, maybe a bit more dof but it is sharp where it matters with excellent detail. Great lashes too.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Andreas, this is cool. I like the reflection in the eye. Excellent detail and sharpness and those eye lashes are nice. Well done!

Hi Andreas, nice one. Have you though about loosing the highlight areas with the same colour & tone by and above the ear? Guessing, but I might have upped the ISO and gone even to f/16 or 22 for the ear & tip of the nose????

Thanks Rachel, Sanjeev , Anette and Steve for your comments , much appreciated.

Steve - i would have posted the frame with more DOF if had one , so sadly i have not thought about in the field . Lesson learned hopefully for next time, whenever that will be and i can get her again that close .
How to loose the HL ? by burning ? or what do you think ? . The do not bother me that much .

    Thanks and cheers Andreas

I like the concept here Andreas, with nice detail, but do wish the fly was a little more evident, as I had to look to actually see where it is. Agree on the DOF suggestions.

Thanks Marc , the fly is visible enough for me , so it is good you had to take more time to search for it , that means you spent more time on my image . But yes i could have made it slightly more pronounced , but i decided against it .

Being black on black........not sure how you could have made it more pronounced, other than waiting for the fly to land on the white section of it's fur.

    Cool framing here Andreas!
Perhaps it's just me, but I'd like to see it with deeper blacks, and perhaps even in pure monochrome - just to compare?

Thanks Morkel for your comment , no you are not alone , Big Papa (LOL) also gave this suggestion regarding deeper blacks including a demo , and i agree with that .

    Cheers Andreas
