    Default Theme: Fancy Feathers

There is a flock of stunning flamingos at the BioPark in Albuquerque. These elegant birds with their over-the-top feathers just beg to be photographed.

A low opacity layer of fractalius glow (my own preset) and a bkgd texture from little owls, inked series, at lighten blend mode. Nik image borders, difference blend mode.

You've got a terrific color scheme, and I really like the glow. The curve of the petals is nice in inself, but it also helps to lead the eye over to the brighter orange in the lower right. The border is very effective, too. There's often a tendency to photograph a whole subject rather than limiting the view to a portion of it. Kudos for giving us the macro view, here, and for the super processing.

Beautiful! I've shot a few close-ups of these feathers, but you got a unique angle and crop -- love it! The filter is perfect!

Great plumage on these birds and nicely presented. Such a unique color, not really seen in much else in nature. Just the right amount of processing to create art.

What's not to like! Luscious color and gorgeous feathers. The feathers beg to be touched--I can almost feel them. Love the upper left corner bg. Wish the lower right bg were more like it--maybe darker?

The graceful flow of the feathers and the pleasing color palette has been commented on above. I like your choice of bg. How did the ghost like feathers at the top come into being? I like the effect. Like Anita, the right lower corner caught my attention. The dark brown small rectangle is a bit distracting. The shadow line is less so; but, still catches my eye.

Nancy, this is lovely. A perfect amount of Fractalius and I love the composition.

Thanks all! About that lower right hand corner; I wasn't happy with it either and turned the bkgd several different ways but still didn't see what I wanted. But I really liked the upper left. So I went with it. To get some of the pink to show through in the bkgd, I lowered the bkgd opacity a bit. I think I'll work on it more. Very much appreciate all your sharp eyes and helpful suggestions!

Could you clone some of the upper left corner into to lower right corner? Just a thought.

The colours are fabulous, and I love the water-coloury effect in the BG. I am wondering about a small crop from the left to eliminate the thin green line. The preset shows off the feather detail very nicely.
