Mom breaking off bark by wedging it away from the tree trunk using her tusks, then using her trunk to strip it off. Little One seems to be enjoying it as much as mom, learning in the process how to do it herself one day. I was quite surprised by the size of the small ele's tusks.

Common tone & sharpness in LR followed by a touch of USM & midtone curves in PS.

    All C & C's welcome.

Toby this is a beautiful image. I like the behaviour and the interaction. Nice details and sharpness. TFS. The foliage looks a bit over saturated but it could be my monitor. Well done and I loved watching it.

Thanks for looking & commenting Sanjeev. I have not added any vibrance or saturation in LR but the midtone adjustments in PS might have added just a little depth to the red bark strips. It's very close to my pre-PS colors though.

Hi Tobie, nice behavior and good details. I feel the elies are a bit big in the frame. DO you have more room all around? Loi

Hi Tobie - Great behavior and interaction captured. Nice sharpness and detail on the eles. You might want to back off on the sharpening of some of the surrounding foliage. Watch the halo along mom's back too. You can darken the greens in a hue/saturation adjustment layer. I did so in this repost by -40. Of course, this is personal preference as with most things.

    TFS,
    Rachel

I like this one Tobie. Not a scene we often see captured. The image tells a nice story.

Thanks for looking & commenting Rachel! I reckon I prefer the greens rather somewhere in the middle of my OP and your version (which is what it looked like on my PS / LR laptop - it looks a little brighter on my work laptop). Something I'll remember for future PP's of a similar nature.

Thanks for looking & commenting Loi! I do have a little more space and tried it like that at first, but getting a crop to my liking then became an issue. I was still not 100% satisfied with this crop (I usually prefer a bit of space in the direction the animal is facing, but the tree messes up that idea) but this was the closest my gut feel kind of felt happy with.

    Hi Tobie,
I love the story here and I have not seen this behavior pictured here before.
You have 2 great head angles as well.
No one has mentioned this but I wonder if this could use a bit of CW rotation. The treeline in the BG slopes to the left and it certainly could be the way it is in real life. If it is an accurate depiction then leave it as.
I am fine with your comp ( comp is such a personal issue!).
    A lovely image,
    gail

Gail, thanks for looking & commenting. The background hill was running at a slight slope and I've tried to straighten it a little but then the mom ele started looking a bit off-balance so I decided to leave it the way it actually was.

Nice behaviour and setting here Tobie. IQ is great!
Can only add that I would remove even more "green" than in Rachel's RP.
