    Default A mane in progress

Just a nice side-on view of a young male lion. It was interesting that there were two males (presumably brothers) of this age in a pack of eight. One would think that they're too young to be pack leaders and too old to be still in a pack with an older male or two. Can it be that an older male has not discovered this pack yet, or did these two really oust an older male?

Cropped to about 70% of original. One or two rounds of USM in PS and common tone adjustments in LR.

    All C & C's welcome.

the awkward looking phase of a young male Lions' life. Nice detail and the colour on the lion looks good. Maybe a bit of NR on the BG and lightening the eye would add. Nice one Tobie!

Thanks for looking & commenting Dumay! I need to get into the habbit of fixing noise when I occasionally switch to the D7100! I have already lit up the lion's eye by quite a bit but I can always add some more. I'm always scared of lifting it to an unnatural level so the recommendation is appreciated.

Tobie, nice side profile of the young male Lion. Nicely composed with good details and sharpness. Agree with Dumay's critique.

Hi Tobie - Nice light and detail. Again a good suggestion by Dumay but you are correct to not want to go so far as to make it look artificial.

Looking good. I like the RP a little better, but the OP was nice too. I wonder is a little less saturation and a bit less sharpening on the mane would make the image look a little more natural.

Hi Tobie, RP is certainly an improvement, if you are adding black or contrast this could be your enemy in key areas. Like the face the mouth is open and the side profile.
