Taken on the way back to camp one evening in Etosha. This cat was in the middle of the road, then wandered into the bush and gave us a look

Nice opportunistic moment of a cat that usually keeps well hidden Roy, I'm surprised at the required NR needed for ISO1600, as I have both the D4 & D4s, was this a large crop?
You could have easily shot @ f/5.6 or 4 and perhaps ISO400, but understand this could have been a "heat of the moment capture".
I'd reduce the sharpening on the cat just a little for mine.

Lovely sighting, I haven't seen one for a few years. I am also surprised at the amount of noise you got. Marc made some very good suggestions. TFS Roy!

Hi Roy - Sorry to be late to this, I was away for the weekend. It's always great to see a wildcat and to see one for more than a fleeting second. Nice look to camera and good choice on the vertical comp. I also agree with Marc's comments and critique.

Thanks everyone for your comments. As you've all surmised it was a largish crop It was a quick shot as we saw if from far down the road and by the time we got there it had hightailed it into the bush.
